Throughout 2016, the ski community had the privilege of watching one of the greatest ski video series of all time: Seeking Nirvana. The four-part series is comprised of top-notch video work, awe-inducing skiing, smooth tunes and an overall vibe that resonated with folks all over the world—resulting in vimeo staff pick honors, as well as an official selection in the esteemed Banff Film Festival.
In the video, above skiers Mike Henitiuk, Joe Schuster, Matt Margetts and Riley Leboe discuss how Seeking to Nirvana came to fruition. Of course, their on-snow talent alone wasn’t the only factor at play. Jamie Tanner, Taylor Laughran and Dylan Ross made magic behind the lens; Colby James West and Jay Hentituik nailed the narration; and Jan Schuster sealed the deal with incredible editing. It was all a true team effort—driven by some set plans, but really just a desire to create something meaningful. As West puts it, “I’m not sure they ever found it—Nirvana—but it was real fun watchin’ ’em try.”
