Svea Irving and Griffin Glendinning have launched their joint video project, and it’s one of the most interesting and unique ski movies you’ll ever watch. “STASIS” is a 16mm film that attempts to capture what its creators define as “balance amidst chaos.” It’s an interesting concept that can be viewed in multiple ways, but it almost certainly points to Svea Irving’s consistent proficiency and dedication towards skiing; a reliable stasis amidst the ever-changing background of freeskiing.
The U.S. Freeski Team member and X Games bronze medalist is one of the shining young stars in freeskiing. Clearly her talents in the realm of creativity go beyond the hill, as “STASIS” is one trippy moment followed by the next. But perhaps the most impressive part is that the film never loses you. It feels cohesive despite being abstract, and that’s hard to do. Co-creator Griffin Glendinning deserves high praises. He clearly left his mark last season, as he also had a hand in Bobby Brown’s “White Gold.”
We can only hope and pray that Glendinning and Irving get to work on another brain-melter this winter, as this project leaves you wanting to be pulled back into the wild realm they’ve created. Kill the lights and turn up the speakers for this one, and be sure to check out the photo gallery below.
