Bobby Brown has been on the sideline for a couple of years. For someone who has X Games medals, world’s firsts and countless other accolades under their belt, this is certainly not the norm. After a debilitating back injury at Saas-Fee in 2021, the legendary freestyle skier was left with an incredibly tough path ahead… and that might be an understatement. But injuries have a tendency to make or break a person, as cliche as that sounds. In a literal and metaphorical way, they can set you back or they can deliver a new perspective, one that likely would have never been visible in the first place.
For Brown, the injury three years ago has proven to be a turning point. He’s very open about the struggles he’s since endured, and also about the fact that those very struggles have led him to a new place of gratitude and fulfillment. Now, his career seems to be more diversified than ever, working on the remarkable Red Bull Cascade contest, shepherding young riders through his work with The Dean’s List and even pointing his attention towards another film piece in 2025.
His new movie “White Gold” stands as a testament to this relentless dedication. The project is five minutes of no-filler-all-action skiing with incredible shots captured near his home in Telluride, Colorado. Each feature seems to somehow dwarf the last. (Seriously, check out the initial road gap segment. See any crashes?) The film crew, consisting of Amon Barker, Peter Brown, Griffin Glendinning, Brett Schreckngost and Cedar Palmer, deserves high praise for their ability to portray these features in their true grandiose. We’re fired up to see Brown and friends continuing to raise the bar. Freeskiing is all the better because of it.
From YouTube:
A ski film shot in and around southern Colorado. From the Silverton road gap to the infamous Trestle in Telluride, Colorado we spent the winter filming close to home. It was an amazing winter of skiing and were looking forward to it starting again soon.
Thank you Red Bull, GoPro, Smith and Atomic for making this vision come to life.
