The Qualifier round of The 2025 Silver Belt comp at Sugar Bowl Resort was a huck fest for the ages. On scene with cameras in hand, the FREESKIER crew watched as over 100 skiers and boarders took to the arena to showcase their best line and impress their peers.

We saw more doubles than we can count, cork 7s, hand drags, straight lines and more. It was simply a work of art. Sugar Bowl saw an incredible storm to start the week, so the competitors were treated to idyllic soft conditions. While every rider put down terrific runs, we were thoroughly impressed with the young guns on course.

14-year-old Jasper Rodgers and Bodie Hilleke both took to the skies and stomped dub backflips off one of the larger features, Pyramid Rock. Tahoe local Abby Winterberger put down a cork 7 as the crowd lit up. And we’d be remiss without mentioning Oskar Roner, who had a hell of a line and nearly put a dub flat to his feet. We could go on, but it’s safe to say the future of freeride is in good hands.

A few of our favorite highlights included Reid Litwiller taking a unique entrance from the far skier’s right, Rob Ruud and Keva Kelly lacing the cork 7’s of the millennium, and Mac Winterberger putting down a dub flat spin on the last jump of the course.

Unfortunately, there’s only room for so many in the finals. The athletes scored one another and, after 16 heats of athletes, our finals roster was locked and loaded.
