La Sportiva Supercouloir GTX Pro Jacket & Pant

Developed in the Italian Dolomites, this is a mountaineer’s kit, through and through. Using what La Sportiva calls SuperFabric, the cuffs of the jacket and pant are highly abrasion-resistant, fending off damage from rock and ice during high-alpine missions. A combination of Gore-Tex Pro and Active shell fabrics provides super lightweight protection from the elements, while articulated elbow, shoulder and knee construction allow you to move freely and large, zippered vents keep your core temperature in check as your heartbeat increases. 


Mountain Hardwear High Exposure Gore-Tex C-Knit Jacket & Bib

With an ultralight feel and backcountry-specific features, this high-end kit is perfect for long days and big missions in the backcountry. For 2024-25, Mountain Hardwear updated the styling on this three-layer combo, which uses Gore-Tex C-Knit shell fabric, with 100-percent recycled nylon, for protection from mother nature’s welcome and unwelcome outbursts. A relaxed fit throughout the jacket and pant makes it easy to move about the backcountry. 


Outdoor Research Hemispheres II Jacket & Bib

The Hemispheres II jacket and bib make a lightweight and relaxed-fit backcountry kit that puts a premium on freedom-of-movement. Made with bluesign-approved, two-layer Gore-Tex fabric, the jacket and bib are built to withstand winter’s harshest weather. While the entirety of the jacket and bib are easy to move around in, Gore-Tex Stretch panels on the center of the back, hood, wrists and crotch, give you even more mobility as you make your way around the backcountry, or just the back of the parking lot. 


Rab Men’s Khroma Converge Jacket & Pant

Coming from a heavy mountaineering background, Rab has begun bringing its technical prowess into more freeride-focused designs and much like its athletes, such as Jake Hopfinger, the brand balances style, performance and functionality better than most. he three-layer Khroma Converge kit is built to withstand the harshest conditions, thanks to a recycled, fluorocarbon-free Gore-Tex ePE membrane and durable water repellent, while maintaining a cozy feel that’s derived from a soft and warm backing.


Rossignol Women’s Corbet’s 2L Jacket & Pant

New from Rossignol, the freeride-centric Corbet’s 2L jacket is a fully-featured shell that will round out your layering system in style. Critically-taped seams, a 20K/15K waterproof and breathability rating and a PFC-free durable water repellent will keep you dry in all but the harshest weather conditions. Additionally, a helmet-compatible hood, along with a stretch- and-fixed powder skirt, seals things up when the snow and wind get fierce.


Salomon Men’s Moon Patrol Gore-Tex Jacket & Bib

The men’s Moon Patrol kit is Salomon’s marquee freeride option for 2025. The French-based brand has produced high-quality outerwear for a number of years and, more recently, has begun honing in a subtle style that appeals to more freeskiers on this side of the pond—evidenced by the earth tones used here. alomon uses what it calls MotionFit 360 in this kit, mapping the construction of the garments in a way that mimics the body and allows for generous freedom-of-movement. 


Salomon Women’s Absolute 3L Jacket & Bib

The Absolute kit was built from the ground up to be an environmentally-friendly option that looks good, feels great and performs at the highest level. Salomon implemented its proprietary membrane—Advanced Skin Dry 3L—which uses 27-percent recycled PU, along with 100-percent recycled face fabric and soft, tricot backer that adds comfort on the inside. This seam-sealed, three-layer construction yields a 20K/20K waterproofing and breathability quotient, with a PFC-free DWR treatment as the final layer of water resistance.


Scott Men’s Vertic Ripstop 3L Jacket & Bib

The new Vertic Ripstop 3L jacket and bib are shining examples of Scott’s commitment to excellence. Both are crafted with three-layer construction, yielding lightweight and protective shells that include elastane for extra mobility. Durability, however, is the most noteworthy aspect here thanks to the namesake ripstop fabric throughout the kit, with high-abrasion areas—forearms, shoulders and waist—getting material reinforcements that guarantee even further durability.


Spyder Men’s Sanction Shell Jacket & Bib

Spyder’s latest line of apparel is representative of its evolution from a race-heavy producer to a more freeride-focused brand. The relaxed-fit, three-layer Sanction kit is the pinnacle of the brand’s freeskiing line and the signature kit of athlete Bobby Brown. The jacket and bib are both built with Spyder’s proprietary Exo Shield fabric and waterproof membrane, which boasts a 30K/30K waterproof and breathability rating.
