Taking the train is a vastly underrated way to travel. It allows you to kick back, relax and take in the scenery and sights as you chug along. This past winter, Stian Hagen, Austin Ross and Nadine Wallner traveled by train from Oslo, Norway to the Vatnahalsen Lodge, deep in the mountains, to tour the backcountry skiing offerings. The only way to reach the lodge, situated on a plateau next to a plunging ravine, is via train, and the area usually receives massive quantities of snow. The trio of skiers found less than ideal snow conditions, but made the most of their adventure.
