2014 Toyota One Hit Wonder boasts a 100 foot jump Down Under

The 2014 Toyota One Hit Wonder Big Air contest is popping off in Australia this week. As always, the event has a massive line of jumps, tons of snow, and a crew of pros ready to feast. However, on the heels of an Olympic year, the hosts of the contest have decided to create a brand new format. This year, competitors of the OHW will battle through four qualifying rounds “double-or-nothing” style with the winner of each round having the option to take a chunk of the prize money and quit or double their winnings and move onto the next round. On top of that, there are spinning restrictions throughout each round, forcing the competitors to get creative with their maneuvers. Enjoy the course preview above and learn more about the format, below.

The event is scheduled to go down as such, as quoted from the One Hit Wonder website:

Round 1: No Spinning (Straight Air’s and Straight flip’s only). Winning trick can choose to take the $500 cash from the overall prize purse and walk away from the competition, or double or nothing into the next round.

Round 2: 360-540’s only. Winning trick can choose to take the $1000 cash from the overall prize purse and walk away from the competition, or double or nothing into the next round.

Round 3: 900-1080’s only. Winning trick can choose to take the $2000 cash from the overall prize purse and walk away from the competition, or double or nothing into the next round.

Round 4: Twice Round Round (720’s, double flips, double corks only). Winning trick can choose to take the $4000 cash from the overall prize purse and walk away from the competition, or double or nothing into the next round.

Final Round: Best Big Air trick as judged by AFP (three jumps, highest score counts). Winner takes the rest of the prize purse (minimum $6000, maximum $10,000).
