Perhaps the most prolific powder skier of our time, Eric ‘Hoji’ Hjorleifson is an undeniable master of his craft. He’s seemingly infatuated with every aspect of backcountry skiing, having designed skis with 4FRNT for over a decade. The Hoji collection is a compilation of finely crafted tools engineered by the man himself, made to bring you the finest turns in the known universe. But while the Nevar, the Renegade, the Hoji and the Raven skis might bring you closer to that idyllic arc, they won’t get you a perfect turn. There are few people who can claim that award, and Hoji is one of them.
“Effortless” is a beautiful and aptly named documentation of Hoji’s style and fluidity in the high peaks of Canada. Filmed at the world-renowned Blanket Glacier Chalet near Revelstoke, British Columbia, Peter Wojnar chased Hjorleifson around with camera in tow, attempting to capture the master in his element. There are few delights in life more satisfying than watching someone so wildly proficient at their craft. Hoji’s effortless style goes above and beyond that bar.

Just outside of Revelstoke lies a little slice of heaven called the Blanket Glacier Chalet. This helicopter accessed remote backcountry chalet has become a home away from home of sorts for Eric Hjorleifson. When owner Marty Schaffer called us with a couple last minute spots, we knew we had to get Peter Wojnar to follow Hoji around and document his signature ‘Effortless’ style.
“Last winter we had the opportunity to go up to Blanket Glacier Chalet during a window of killer weather. A fresh coating of 30-50cm of super blower pow laid on top of a bulletproof ice crust from a recent rain event which swept the province. Not deep enough to jump off stuff, we stepped back and focused on shooting Hoji’s effortless style closer to the ground.
