On Movie Monday, FREESKIER brings you free movies from the wide world of skiing. With a mix of old and new, this is where you can find your weekly dose of freeski history, adrenaline and cinema mastery all in one.
There are many great ski movies out there. Each one has the opportunity to set itself apart in unique ways, but often they can blend together. Let’s face it, many ski films can have storylines that are redundant. “Nexus” is not one of those projects. This Movie Monday, we’re bringing you a flick that set itself apart from day one, and will likely do so for generations of skiers to come. There aren’t many projects that tell the stories behind the many groups of women skiers out there, but there is much to be said from these ripping female curators of our sport.
Follow along as we explore the lives of Michelle Parker, Lucy Sackbauer, Krystin Norman and many others, the communities they call home, the friendships they cherish and where it all connects. And don’t worry, of course, there’s heaps of incredible skiing and cinematography throughout this story as well.
“Nexus” was no easy task. Director Shannon Corsi told us, “This was the ultimate labor of love – it was the film that Sophie, Katie and I all wished we had growing up. Filmmaking takes a village, and seeing the way athletes, crew and sponsors really showed up and gave it their all to create “Nexus” was incredible. We set out to create a narrative-driven film that told the inspiring and vastly different stories of each set of athletes, and it turns out that resonated with a lot of people.”
Women. Skiers. Friends. Nexus is a ski film documenting five distinct groups of women, exploring their connections to each other, the transformative power of the mountains, and the lessons learned from their time on skis.
