Thredbo Resort, Australia – The One Hit Wonder Down Under is a four day filming session on Thredbo’s end of season money-booter from the 14th until the 18th of September, though which ever skier and snowboarder gets the most public votes for the single best crowd pleasing trick will score a $2000 cash sweetener. It is a relatively new but relaxed concept of competition for the Australian skiing and snowboarding scene… Think JOSS, but with gumtrees.

The invited athletes will work with skier/cameramen Tim Myers and Rob Norman on Thredbo’s end of season money-booter to capture their single best trick on film. The tricks will be uploaded to the web for three weeks where the world wide public can vote for who they think has the best “One Hit Wonderous” trick, and thus walking away with some extra cash, but more importantly claiming the title of the best skier or boarder in the universe, maybe.

As well as the invited athletes, there are 2 skiing and 2 snowboarding wildcard spots available. To qualify oneself for these spots and compete with Australia’s best skiers and snowboarders on the purpose built money-booter, you need to audition.

To Audition:

nyone can audition. Well actually you should start by having some mad skillz on your skis or snowboards… Ask one of your mates if you have mad skillz.

1. Have a buddy film you doing your audition trick on snow.
2. It’s easy to sign-up and upload your entry to www.vimeo.com.
3. It’s important that you title your video “One Hit Wonder Audition Your Name” then email the link to your video plus your contact details to: [email protected]

A panel of judges will ridicule most entries before deciding on 2 skiers and 2 snowboarders to jump alongside the select field of Australian pro riders. Judges will be looking for a combination of technically difficult but stylish tricks that they think are worthy of mixing it with this country’s best.

Entrants auditioning for a wild card spot will be contacted by the end of August should you be successful in securing a spot to throw down with the big kids on Thredbo’s end of season money-booter in September.

By emailing the link to your audition video, you are agreeing that your video may be redistributed, broadcast or used for promotional purposes in relation to the One Hit Wonder Down Under event.

VIDEO & UPLOADING TIPS: Don’t edit your video… Don’t worry about music or flashy cuts. The judges just want see you clearly stomping your trick in full and perhaps from a few different angles, but having production values less than a Warren Miller segment will not diminish your chances. When it comes to uploading your audition video to www.vimeo.com, keep the file in its rawest format and as highest resolution as possible. Be sure to enable your original video to be downloaded in the vimeo.com settings so that we can add it to the top picks page if we think it is worthy.

You can audition now, and up until the 30th of August… So for those of you vying for 1 of the 4 wildcard spots, the One Hit Wonder Down Under event has already begun.
