Phil Casabon is bringing together the wide world of freeskiing through his latest competition. The B-Dog ‘Off The Leash’ video contest has over 60 entries and counting. There is some serious action up for grabs too. $5,000 cash is on the line, plus contests can win a custom Armada jacket, custom B-Dog pro model Armada skis, custom Wells Lamont mittens and Casabon himself will be giving a Golden Dog award.
Casabon, known as B-Dog by friends and fans the world over, is one of the greatest street skiers and a true pioneer of the sport. He has done many variations of his ‘Off The Leash’ contests, but the 2024 video format is blowing up like he never anticipated. The contest is done through YouTube, where riders upload entries and fans vote on their favorite.

Some of the most talented riders around have submitted videos, including ABM, Tucker FitzSimons, Khai Krepela, Harald Hellström and more. The videos are all around one and a half minutes in length, and are made of re-edited footage from past seasons. Because of this unique option skiers like Krepela who haven’t put out a part in years are able to compete. It’s a great format that has drawn in skiers we haven’t heard from in a while.
“The original concept was brought to my attention by Eric Iberg, co-creator of Inspired Media, and now Henrik Harlaut and my manager,” Casabon told FREESKIER. “When [Iberg] first told me about the concept, I got goosebumps, which is always a good indicator to move forward with something, in my experience. Simon Roy, the artist behind ‘Once Upon a Style‘ comic book as well as the Armada B-Dog’s 2023, had already drawn up a sketch that was purposed for something else but fitted perfectly for this. We had all we needed to pull it off. We announced the contest and did some networking to get as many people involved as possible.”
