Registration now open for 5th annual Dumont Cup

Back for the fifth straight year, the Dumont Cup is slated to invade Sunday River on March 28-30. The only Platinum Level AFP-sanctioned contest on the East Coast, the Dumont Cup gives amateur skiers a chance to compete with freeskiing’s biggest names. Valuable AFP points are on the line, in addition to a hefty cash purse.

Simon Dumont created this event with one key goal in mind: “To give New England amateur skiers a chance to get noticed and to help expand the audience for slopestyle skiing,” he says. Dumont initially intended for his signature contest to be a regional event, but now competitors from the US, Canada and Europe regularly attend in hopes of winning the cup.

Practice begins March 28. Qualifiers will be held in two sessions on Friday, March 29, with the top 20 advancing from each heat. Semifinals and finals will be held Saturday, March 30. Twenty of 40 semifinalists will advance to finals, where they’ll face off against 20 pre-qualified pros.

Registration is now open with limited availability for $125, which includes a lift ticket. For more information visit www.dumontcup.com or www.sundayriver.com.
