On Monday, March 30th, Alpine Meadows will host the 2015 Mothership Classic, part of “a month-long fundraising campaign culminating in a lively on-snow phenomenon of skiers, snowboarders and retro mountain adventurers lapping the chairlift as many times as they can from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.” Any participants will accrue sponsorships per lap. Epic costumes are encouraged and good times are mandatory. There is no entry fee required to participate in this awesome event, all you have to do is show up and be prepared to spin laps from bell-to-bell.

“Spending time in the mountains with our friends is exactly why we all live here,” said Roy Tuscany, co-founder of the High Fives Foundation. “It’s a huge honor being able to be part of an event that truly celebrates where we live.” The High Fives Foundation is the non-profit beneficiary of the Classic. All funds raised are directed towards their mission of supporting the dreams of mountain action sports athletes by raising injury prevention awareness and providing resources and inspiration to those who have sustained life-altering injuries.

Press Release provided by The High Fives Foudation:

On March 30th, the last Monday in the month, Alpine Meadows will host the Mothership Classic. The entire mountain community is invited to join in a month-long fundraising campaign culminating in a lively on-snow phenomenon of skiers, snowboarders and retro mountain adventurers lapping the chairlift as many times as they can from 9am-4pm. Participants will obtain per-lap sponsorships and everyone is encouraged to embrace their own form of classic inspiration for the event. Throwback gear, vintage equipment and costumes are part of the program as a to tribute the lively history of Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe’s mountain lifestyle. There is no fee for entry into the event and donations raised will benefit local non-profit, the High Fives Foundation.

Interested participants should sign up as soon as possible using the online pledge platform available at www.west.highfivesfoundation.org. This will allow everyone to set up a personal pledge page and to begin reaching out amongst participants’ own networks for donations. We encourage everyone to find support for the fundraising efforts via email, social media and word of mouth. Pledges can be made based on the number of laps completed or by a flat one-time donation.

“The goal when we started this event 5 years ago was to create something that allows everyone the opportunity to do something positive while spending a day on the hill,” said Tristan Queen, Co-Founder of Arcade Belt Co. “Friends sponsoring friends for 25 cents a lap is really what this event was founded on. The original recipe was pretty simple and we haven’t changed it much over the years… Helping others who have suffered life-altering injuries by spending a full day at Alpine Meadows chasing your friends around is about as good as it gets.”
