Here at FREESKIER, we have an insatiable appetite for stories about skiing. Whether it’s sitting around the local watering hole listening to locals recap their powder day, hearing the almost mythical tales about skiers like Glen Plake, who paved the way for the ski industry with reckless abandon, or just recapping the day-to-day adventures we all experience during an outing on the slopes, it’s these experiences on the hill—and the ability to share these stories—that is a big part of what makes it all so damn fun.
To honor this thought, we want to bring your attention to one of the most entertaining podcast hosts on the radio waves today: Mike Powell, mastermind of The Powell Movement podcast. Powell, an industry veteran who worked with K2 Skis for 18 years, has established himself as one of the top podcast hosts in the outdoor space over the past year using his honest, hysterical and definitely “in your face” approach to interviewing. Leveraging his relationships with many of the most high-profile figures in skiing and action sports, Powell is able to cut the crap and dive into the nitty-gritty lives of his guests like Torin Yater-Wallace, Joss Christensen, Tom Wallisch, Mike Douglas, Sean Pettit, Bobby Brown, Kimmy Fasani and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, just to name a few.
The Powell Movement just surpassed 100 episodes and the show continues to entertain everyone in the FREESKIER office. If you want to get the inside scoop on (literally) everyone and anyone in the action sports industry, Powell’s episodes are a surefire way to have a laugh and learn about your favorite athletes. Below, we’re featuring his 100th Episode with Tanner Hall and his 102nd Episode, where Roy Tuscany of High Fives Foundation flips the tables and interviews Powell himself. Happy listening.
