As seen in the 2011 FREESKIER Buyer's Guide: Born from an entrepreneur class at Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado Freeskier has been “Recognizing and Representing the Revolution of skiing" since they opened their doors in '06. It's a niche ski shop dedicated to the progression of the sport, moving forward and most importantly "freesking.”
Everyone in the shop skis everyday they work, it's required. They also ski every ski that they sell and demo, no matter if it's a women's ski or a Hellbent. The girls in the shop have to ski the big skis too. That’s just awesome. They also make all of their employees study the Freeskier Buyers Guide. Double awesome.
In addition to their awesomeness, they support a wide range of local ski stars like Aaron Blunck 14 year old and last year's USASA National Champ, Max Mancini, co-founder of lifeturns.org, Ciera Glenn, Big Mountain competitor, Jesse Hall extreme skier and base/ski jumper, and Lexi Dupont ISFA competitor.
And last but not least the shop puts on “Big Air on Elk” each winter. They close Crested Butte’s main street street for two days, bring in 100 tons of snow, and build a huge kicker. You bet your ass Freeskier will be there this year to check it out.
