While mother nature continues to play her games during the course of the week, Sarah Burke has once again taken home the gold in women’s superpipe here at Winter X 13. The snow and fog didn’t manage to slow the ladies down, putting on an impressive performance for the large crowd and all the tv viewers.

Jess Cumming was the first lady to drop in tonight, and her first run score held up throughout all the runs to keep her in 3rd place. Jen Hudak also used her first run score of 92.66, keeping her in the first place spot until Sarah’s 3rd run. With all the pressure and tons of eager eyes watching her 3rd and final run of the night, Sarah Burke once again delivered with a more than impressive run, to claim victory.

Sarah Burke used her monster 900, right and left 540s, alley-oop 540 and a 720 to close the deal, securing her 3rd straight X Games Superpipe gold medal. Jen Hudak followed closely with a 900, alley oop 720 and 540s to lock in a 2nd place finish. And Jess Cumming flew high and dropped dual 540s and a 720 to snag her a bronze medal, her first out of her four X Games appearances.

All the women threw down, with a flurry of 540s, 900s and big airs visually pleasing the crowd under the lights tonight. Sarah, in her 2nd run of the night, dropped an alley-oop flatspin on the field, a first for women’s halfpipe skiing, again, raising the bar. Roz Groenewoud threw down a 900, 360 and switch hit in her run to narrowly miss the podium tonight.

As the books close on yet another X Games superpipe chapter, the is little doubt that the girls skied impressively, raised the bar in competition and the competition the rest of the year will be exhilarating.
