DPS Launches Hybrid Ski Line

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH-DPS (dpsskis.com), the manufacturer and designer of progressively shaped carbon fiber skis announces the release of a new line of skis called Hybrid: fiberglass+carbon+bamboo, which will compliment its elite Pure line of carbon/nano skis.

DPS has been building and shaping skis geared toward the freeride community since 2005. DPS has led the boutique brand category, with shaping, design, and construction innovations that have been quickly adopted by nearly all ski brands. DPS design heritage runs deep: the company introduced the word “rocker” to skiing, and since inception has pioneered the world’s only pure carbon fiber sandwich ski, which amalgamates incredible strength and power with extraordinary lightweight.

With the introduction of the new Hybrid line, DPS seeks to expand its brand reach by offering a new line of skis that will be more tangible to those who are priced out of the Pure line- a carbon and nano cocktail that took four years of intense development to perfect.

“Today, we’re thrilled to release the Hybrid line. We are bringing the same progressive design and shaping influence to the Hybrid line that has built our Pure line. In fact, the Hybrid line is available in the exact shapes and sizes as the Pure line with nearly identical graphics,” said DPS founder, Stephan Drake. “We have a lot prospective customers who want to ride DPS, but the price of the Pure carbon line is a barrier, so the Hybrids offer a great opportunity get in the door with the same great workmanship, progressive shaping, and passion that goes into the Pure line.”

The Hybrid ski line incorporates a traditional sandwich fiberglass build. Yet, it takes conventional industry construction one-step further, by incorporating a bamboo core, carbon stringers, and the fastest, hardest ISO bases made. Hybrid skis prices will start at MSRP, $679 USD, whereas Pure skis are all evenly priced at MSRP of $1199 USD.

And until August 15, DPS is offering a special pre-order deal, with prices discounted to what will be season low pricing for 2009-2010. Until August 2, buyers will also be able to choose a custom color option for free on pure skis only, before custom colors become an up-charge.
