The North Face Gives an Inside Look at the Jossi Wells Invitational in this Recap Edit

Featured Image: Noah Wallace | Skier: Jossi Wells

The Jossi Wells Invitational wrapped earlier this month, and if you had the pleasure of viewing any of the clips circulating social media, you know it was an absolute barrage of talent. The event is a unique offering in freeskiing today, as many invitationals have been phased out over the years. Competition season is long and relentless, leaving little time for riders to ski for fun. That’s where the JWI comes in.

It’s formatted as a rider-judged “competition,” but it’s not much of a standard comp. For a week, the entire course is open for the riders to lap at their will, with a vote taking place at the end. It’s meant to be perceived as a creative incubator and seems to be just that. By bringing together skiers and snowboarders, which unites riders who don’t normally meet, the JWI delivers a snow-sports oasis. Luckily for us, The North Face put together a pristine recap video featuring Tom Wallisch, Jossi Wells and many others. It’s rare to get such a close-up view of this event, so enjoy the full edit below.

From YouTube:

An unrivaled incubator for snowsports creativity, the Jossi Wells Invitational is an open-format, athlete-judged event where the world’s best challenge each other to push what’s possible on skis or a snowboard.
