The High Fives Non-Profit Foundation will be venturing to the Rocky Mountains on September 1 for its first annual High Fives Foundation Colorado Charity Golf Tournament. Presented by GoPro, Phunkshun Wear, Kind Design and Outdoor Technologies, the always entertaining crew will be swinging their clubs at Vail Golf Club as a fundraising event for the Foundation’s Empowerment Fund, which provides grant assistance to injured action sports athletes.

To date, High Fives’ Empowerment Fund has assisted 82 athletes from twenty states in eight respective funding categories, which include: living expenses, insurance, travel, health, healing network, adaptive equipment, winter equipment, programs and stoke.

To make things even sweeter, High Fives wants you to join ’em on the links. With multiple tee times still available, the cost to participate in the tournament is $500 per team of four, or $150 per solo golfer. All proceeds will go to the High Fives Foundation to facilitate the recovery process of injured winter action sports athletes.

“I am excited to work with an organization that is very close to me on this fun-filled event,” said Jay Badgley, Owner of Phunkshun Wear. “I’ve attended High Fives Foundation tournaments in Tahoe and there is so much positive energy at the events. I am excited to pass that energy on to my stomping grounds in Colorado.”

The tournament will begin at 10:00 a.m. MST at Vail Golf Club with player registration. Lunch from will be served at 11:00 a.m., and a “Break the Butcher Paper” competition will begin at 11:15 a.m., where golfers will attempt to rip a sheet of butcher paper by hitting golf balls at it from a challenging distance. Following the “Break the Butcher Paper” comp, High Fives Foundation Co-Founder and Executive Director, Roy Tuscany will then lead into announcements at 11:50 a.m. and at 12:15 p.m. a group photo will be taken to celebrate this special day. At 12:30 p.m., teams of four will hit the fairways of the Vail Golf Club and work together in a scramble format attempting to win amazing prizes from a list of great sponsors.

While on the course, players will have the chance to participate in many on course challenges (including closest to the pin, long drive and a putting contest) to win additional prizing. After competitors have completed their round of golf, the tournament will end with a putting contest followed by awards, a silent auction and a catered dinner from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
