We are so hyped on every rider on board, and can’t wait to collaborate on everything from products to projects.
Federico Merle, CMO/CFO, shared his thoughts on all of the recent additions and the state of the current team, “we are so hyped on every single one of our riders, and having so much interest from some of the best riders in the sport really validates what we are doing as a brand. Shred embodies the intersection of technology and contemporary style of what skiing is now, and Slytech is safety and comfort through high innovation. From Tom on down to our grass roots program, we want to put our products in the hands of athletes who are most representative of who we are as a brand, and where we believe the sport is going.”
Tom Wallisch, a fall addition to the Shred Optics and Slytech Protection family let his excitement rip, “I definitely see a great future for the brands and the team. It’s awesome to be teaming up with a bunch of really legit skiers and some of my close friends.”
Co-founder and head product engineer, Carlo Salmini, said, “having such a deep team of experienced riders will only catapult our product offerings. We work really closely with all of the athletes to fine tune existing products, and to conceptualize items and technologies that have never before been made. We have one of the best teams of riders in the industry, and all of us are so psyched to get down to product specifics to break down boundaries.”
Ted Ligety, Co-founder, shared, “I’ve never pinned myself as just a ski racer, but thought of myself as a skier. I love skiing the backcountry and messing around in the park; I’ve been a fan of the athletes on our team for years, they’ve inspired my skiing and I love watching them push the sport. I’m super excited for these guys to join our team. It’s going to be fun to work with them, and hopefully ski with them, as they help us shape our brands.”
Mike Hornbeck talked about the process of joining the team, “I actually reached out to SHRED and SLYECH because I wanted to be a part of a company that was athlete driven. They make high quality products and are willing to work with athletes to create and fulfill their needs. I am stoked to be involved.”
Duncan Adams, who joined both brands said, “I’m excited to be a part of a brand that’s growing and expanding in a time when so many are cutting back. This combined with Shred and Slytech’s amazing product line made it a no brainer for me to join the full program.”

Lolo Favre was really happy to join the family, “especially receiving the answer straight from Ted himself since I’m a fan of him and all that he does in his own sport. To see him so involved with the other aspects of skiing is rad. I’m really stoked on the product especially the Monocle, which is really light and the lenses are really good! I really like the team and being back as a teammate with Tom is really fun! I like the spirit of the brand it looks like it’s more for the sport than just the name.”
JL Ratchel shared his enthusiasm on the brands and the team, “I’m stoked to join the family, we have a big team and Shred Optics and Slytech Protection will bring a new era for the freeskiing. The products are cool design and super comfortable.”
