Good news, everyone! Americans who have been fully vaccinated for two weeks will be able to enter the Great White North on August 9 when Canada opens its border. Can we still call it that in the summer? Anyway, if your goal is shredding Kootenay hero dirt or climbing the granite face of the Stawamus Chief this summer, you’re in business.
Both the US and Canada closed their borders back in March of 2020, and today, Justin Trudeau announced that Americans will soon be welcome again. All other travelers will be allowed in on September 7, assuming all goes well. Travelers will still have to get a COVID-19 test before entry, but they will no longer have to quarantine upon entry. Unvaccinated children under 12 won’t have to quarantine, but will not be allowed to participate in group activities like summer camps.
