South Lake Tahoe, California resident Maddie Bowman just took home the gold medal at the first-ever women’s Olympic halfpipe skiing contest. With the win, Bowman ups the United States’ freeskiing gold medal count to three, as teammates David Wise and Joss Christensen brought home gold in men’s halfpipe and men’s slopestyle, respectively. The women’s Olympic halfpipe final was the final freeskiing event in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, the sports’ inaugural Olympic year.
