A Whole Lotta BS: Weekend In Vegas

I am back! It’s been more than a year since the last edition of “A Whole Lotta BS” and I know you’ve all been anticipating my return. This comeback story tells the tale of our recent adventure to a little town called, Las Vegas.

Willis Brown, former CBS National Collegiate Slopestyle champion, was the trip instigator. He was due to compete in the Gatorade Free Flow Tour for BMX, and he mentioned his plans to Nike 6.0 team manager, Jake Largess, who was turning 24 the same weekend. Thus, the stage was set for a weekend of pure glory. It didn’t take long for them to convince myself, and mega-pro TJ Schiller to hop on the bandwagon. Rooms were reserved at the Venetian, flights were booked, and suddenly… an all-star line up with a burning desire to lose all their money was en route to the city that never sleeps.

The first night began at the Venetian Casino. We tested our poor odds at the roulette table and somehow came out on top. Next stop was the Palms, where we met up with the legendary Sarah Burke and her motley crew. Sarah was also coincidently in the city celebrating her birthday. With our forces combined we decided to test out the world-renowned nightclub, Moon, situated at the top of the Palms. The boys spent the night singing, dancing, and eventually being escorted out of the bar for having too much fun. The girls did the same without getting kicked out. I suppose girls really are more mature.

The following day was pretty “standard Vegas.” We spent most of the afternoon at the Tao pool soaking up the sun. Then we made our way over to the Encore where we got rejected from the club for having inappropriate shoes. I guess Las Vegas does not enjoy fresh Nike kicks. In a desperate attempt to find a backup plan we ended up at a gentleman’s cabaret that successfully robbed us of all our money.

Willis missed out on most of the activity Saturday night because of his early morning competition. Unfortunately he managed to break his bike in practice and was unable to compete. This left us with an entire afternoon to relax on the strip. We decided to preserve the last of our earnings by avoiding any slot machines or poker tables for the duration of our trip. In the end we all made it out in one piece and it will probably be a long time until we will be able to show our faces again in Sin City.
