Key industry players will soon receive brand-new, 2019 edition Nordica ProMachine ski boots to test out; one lucky reader gets to join the club
Now in its fourth year, Nordica’s Proto Project is an integral part of its R&D process. Here’s how it works, in a nutshell: In the early winter, the company sends “next year’s” gear to a select group of industry insiders. Said insiders spend a good chunk of time putting those products through the wringer and then report back to Nordica with their findings. More often than not, the feedback simply provides the folks at Nordica with the assurance that their hard work has paid off—that a product is 100-percent ready for market. In some instances, testing may reveal that a certain product will benefit from a tweak; this allows Nordica plenty of time to make the necessary change(s) before distributing the item to ski shops (remember, we’re talking about next year’s gear, here.) Of course, Nordica also benefits from the Proto Project by virtue of a group of influencers sharing images of, and speaking about its new products on social media and among friends.
So, how does this affect you? For the first time, one lucky FREESKIER reader will have a chance to partake in this exclusive R&D experience, which this year focuses on an exciting new ski boot. Today you’re among the very first to hear about Nordica’s new ProMachine.
For nearly 80 years Nordica has been committed to enhancing comfort and performance in its ski boots. Two years ago, Nordica re-launched its celebrated Speedmachine series, serving up a lightweight, performance design incorporating Tri-Force frame technology. In conjunction, Nordica unveiled its Infrared Shell Customization technology and 3D Custom Cork Liner, together inspiring custom-fit bliss for many skiers. Last year, Sportmachine came along, leaning on those tried-and-true design principles, yet in a slightly wider last (102 mm). And now, the “Machine” family is complete with the introduction of the all-new, lower-volume ProMachine (98 mm last).
Nordica calls it, “the most modern, high-performance ski boot [the company has] ever crafted… blending the World Cup performance DNA of the legendary race boot with the modern lightweight architecture of the Speedmachine and Sportmachine. A boot that delivers the power you demand with the comfort you desire.”
So, will you be the lucky one to sport a 2018-19 edition ProMachine prototype for the upcoming winter? The one posting photos of your rockin’ new boots to social media, joining the #NordicaProtoProject wave of fun? The one logging into Nordica’s “proto portal” to deliver feedback to the product designers? Luck might just be on your side today. Follow the easy steps to enter, below. Rules and regulations apply.
