On Movie Monday, FREESKIER brings you free movies from the wide world of skiing. With a mix of old and new, this is where you can find your weekly dose of freeski history, adrenaline and cinema mastery all in one.
This week on Movie Monday, FREESKIER is thrilled to present a biopic ski film that dives into the life of a skier who needs no introduction. He is one of the greatest to ever partake in this beloved sport, and has had a hand in different areas of the ski industry for nearly two decades. Of course, we’re talking about Eric Hjorleifson, AKA the one and only Hoji.
Released in 2018, ‘Hoji’ takes a longer look at this one-of-a-kind pioneer. As a freeskier, engineer, ski mountaineer and innovator, there are very few corners of skiing that Hoji has not touched. He’s a remarkable person; the kind who walks his own path without any hesitation or lack of confidence. His utterly fluid style landed him in MSP segments for years. But never before have we gotten to see Hoji in this light. From humble beginnings in Canmore, Alberta to traveling the world through a life lived with ambition, creativity and ingenuity in the mountains, ‘Hoji’ explores the people and places that have defined this legend.
