Enter the “John Symms Self Edit” contest and win!

John Symms has just dropped the video gauntlet with his 2k8 self-edit and he wants you to win prizes. Watch the video, read the details below, follow the rules and win some shit.

Watch The John Symms Summer Edit

How To Enter

  1. Take a picture of yourself with the edit on the screen in the background, to prove that you watched it. A simple screen capture will also do.
  2. Write short essay** (paragraph) on on of the following topics:
    1) Why my edit was your favorite edit of the summer;
    2) Why my edit was lame, and why you could barely stand to watch the whole thing; or
    3) Why Danny Kass is out of touch with reality (hint: https://snowboarding.transworld.net/2008/09/04/10-questions-with-danny-kass/).
  3. Make a post on Freeskier.com with your photo and essay for the world to see. Symms will be watching.

Prizes

  1. Best essay will receive new pair of Skullcandy Ti Headphones (or first choice from runner up prizes).
  2. One runner up will receive a new Dakine Tactic Backpack.
  3. Another runner up will receive a custom Nike 6.0 Backpack.
  4. The next runner up from the “I hated the edit” essays will receive some gear that I’ve already used, but is still in really good condition. Probably some goggles, or gloves, or some shit like that. Maybe even a jacket, or some bindings, or an autographed poster of Simon Dumont. Who knows?
  5. The top ten essays will receive subscriptions to Freeskier Magazine.

*Additional prizes may be added, in case you think these prizes suck.

**A note about the essays†: Many people like to consult a thesaurus in order to beef up their writing. This practice, while perfectly acceptable, carries the hidden danger of misusing a big word. If you find an impressive synonym in the thesaurus, look it up in the dictionary and make sure it means what you want it to before using it.

†A further note about the essays: Material that is offensive, obnoxious, or unrelated to the given topics is welcome and encouraged.
