Four Utah ski resorts—Alta, Powder Mountain, Snowbird and Sundance—recently teamed up with Protect our Winters and SNOCRU for the second annual “POW Day,” an event aimed at environmental change and awareness that went incredibly well.
The premise was simple: Folks who carpooled or used public transportation to these four ski resorts not only helped the environment, but were greeted with free Discrete beanies, as well as other swag from participating sponsors like Clif Bar. Furthermore, carpoolers got free VIP parking right next to the lifts. And, at the end of the day, each resort hosted a party (equipped with FREESKIER Pow Day IPA beer) to celebrate everyone’s collective effort.
All in all, there were over 1,000 participants; 26,666 vehicle miles saved; 24,197 pounds of CO2 saved; and 184,127 trees saved from CO2 absorption, which equates to about 2,455 acres of land.
