10 Minutes with Justin Dorey

10 Minutes with Justin Dorey

Justin Dorey was a man on a mission this season and people started to notice that fact last fall in New Zealand. A Win at the US Freeskiing Open this year, along with two second place finishes at Dew Tour stops, and a fourth this year at X games has kept him busy. This week I was able to catch up with Justin here at the Freeskier Park Test in Keystone, CO and pick his brain about this season and things to come next season out of the young Canadian.

KK- What are you up to J-Bone?
JD – Heading to the airport with 2 of my 3 team managers that have been with me after we swing by and see Riley.

KK- What Happened to the Collar Bone?
JD- I was at a Quarterpipe show in Toyko and popped to hard/overotated a cork 5 and snapped my collar bone clean through. No surgery needed.

KK- How are you feeling, what’s next…
JD- I am feeling pretty good, got back on snow this week, and I can start jumping again, in about a week. After that go to WSI to compete in Pipe and Big Air. Then its film time.

KK-What are your thoughts on your season this year-
JD- Pretty Stoked on my season, almost made it all the way thru without getting injured, always a big goal. I got my first win in a long time at the US Freeskiing Open, it felt great, hoping to notch up some more of those next year. I was hoping to be Teej’s partner at JOSS until the collarbone so maybe next year. But overall best season I have had to date.

KK-What are your plans for this summer and next season?
JD – Head to Whistler mid june to coach at Momentum thru late July, relax then head to NZ for a month or so to train pipe. Goals for next season, Dew Tour and X Games are my main focus along with a few slope events.

KK-Any Last thoughts thoughts/Shout outs
JD-Shout out to all my sponsors, mom and dad, friends, and Riley Poor who is being a huge inspiration for all of us right now.
