Mata Ti
ZAG Skis
$829.00
Described by Zag as a new-generation carver, we can confirm that the all-new Mata Ti can pull some serious Gs. This is achieved through a narrow waist, tight turn radius, stiff core, and lots of tip and tail rocker. The Mata’s unusual combination of components creates an energetic and powerful frontside carving experience while still allowing you to play on the groomers. The ski features a 90-mm waist width with a radius of 14.2 m (at 173 cm)—akin to a slalom ski. But the Mata Ti isn’t just a short-turn radius ski, as it has an enormous amount of oomph and is practically begging to boost off rollers as you pop between carves.
A core of rubber, poplar, Titanal inserts and quadriaxial fiberglass is at the heart of this workhorse. The poplar lends a lightweight, energy-packed feeling, while the Titanal and quadriaxial fiberglass provide torsional rigidity for excellent energy retention and a robust rebound out of turns. Finally, Zag has added rubber to the core and rocker to the shape for vibration reduction and a touch of forgiveness to an otherwise energy-packed ski. Mata Ti slots perfectly into any quiver, as a fun frontside ski for the days when pulling out the big mountain rippers just does not make sense.
