The C.R. Johnson Memorial Lion Heart Art Show is back for its eighth year showcasing local artists’ work to raise money for the C.R. Johnson Healing Center. The show will take place on Friday, February 8, at Riverside Studios in downtown Truckee, California.
The High Fives Foundation–a non-profit organization committed to supporting outdoor action sports athletes after life-altering injuries–opened the C.R. Johnson Healing Center in 2011 as a program service to commemorate professional skier and Truckee native, C.R. Johnson, who died in a skiing accident in February of 2010. The healing center is a large training facility for High Fives Athletes as well as community members who have suffered sports-related injuries to continue working on their progress in a “no questions asked” environment at little to no cost. In an effort to raise money for the facility, the C.R. Johnson Memorial Lion Heart Art Show was created in 2012.
New for the 2019 show, artists will have the choice to present their work on 4’x6″ skis cut out of wood instead of the traditional 12″x12″ square panel. While there isn’t an entrance fee to this creative fundraiser, attendees have the opportunity to purchase these one-of-a-kind works of art for $100 per panel or $200 per ski. Proceeds from the show directly benefit the C.R. Johnson Healing Center.
