Josh Daiek Wins $10K From GoPro as The March Line of the Winter Champion

GoPro’s Line of the Winter has been in full swing this season. The company hosted a viral contest, putting up $30K in total prize money, $10K given to the winner of each month from January through March. So far, only one skier has taken home the cake, and that’s Adrià Millan Pla. The South American speed demon won both January and February with two lines that had a bit of everything; big turns at high speeds, tight exist chutes in variable conditions and a lofty 360 for good measure. For March, however, the story was different.

The latest winner was a familiar face in freeskiing; the professor of speed, Josh Daiek. Known for his passion surrounding skiing, which focuses on “fluid, fall line and fast,” it’s no wonder that the line he submitted was exactly that. Daiek has found many lines that have drawn his eye in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, this being one of them. Here, we see him in the remote Sierra backcountry, flying down the snow-covered hills above barren plains of brown. It’s one hell of a sight, to say the least. Complete with a tasteful and massive backflip to end it, this line is well deserving of the title.

A classic Daiek line: fast, fall line and fluid. Complete with the backflip for good measure.
