On Movie Monday, FREESKIER brings you free movies from the wide world of skiing. With a mix of old and new, this is where you can find your weekly dose of freeski history, adrenaline and cinema mastery all in one.

There are good short films, and there are great short films. We’re not sure where the difference truly lies, but we do know that “Don’t Call It A Comeback” by the Burrrlapz crew is a great short film. It just may be one of the best we’ve ever come across. While the group has since disbanded, this project is a true gem. And considering how most of their flicks were fantastic, that’s really saying something. Incredible cinematography, skiing and music selections combine to create this Pink Floyd-fueled pow adventure in British Columbia. There are a few names in here that have gone on to become staples of modern freeskiing. Sam Kuch, Dylan Siggers and Garrett Capel are three names in here that you may recognize. Hell, photographer Anatole Tuzlak can even be found in front of the lens here!

There’s something incredibly nostalgic yet timeless about the snow-covered forests of British Columbia. This crew caters to that feeling, with ample slow-motion shots featured throughout. While it’s a feature that can sometimes be abused in ski films, it doesn’t come across that way here. The whole project delivers an epic feel that makes you want to rally your own crew and head for the hills. If that’s not a major part of any good ski movie, then I don’t know what is. We can’t wait to see more action from these skiers in the future, as both Siggers and Kuch have a part to play in ski films arriving this fall.
