WSI Superpipe Semi-final Results

WSI Superpipe Semi-final Results

With the weather teetering on the brink of an April blizzard, the 30 athletes who qualified on Wednesday got back into the pipe on Blackcomb Mountain today to battle it out for the 18 remaining final spots, alongside the pre-qualified athletes.

The speed was a bit shaky due to morning snowfall, but everyone charged hard, especially Justin Dorey, who took first place by a score of 18.4 to 17.3 over second place champ Nathan Wood.

As the day progressed, the snow stopped and the speed improved, allowing the skiers to put on a bigger show than earlier, and saw some of the bigger names like Dan Marion and JF Houle show their solid skills and advance to tomorrow’s finals.

Each competitor was given four runs (jam-session style), with their best run counting, allowing everyone a fair chance to throw down their desired run.

Also tomorrow is the infamous superhit contest where competitors will take one hit in the pipe, best trick wins. We’ll have to see if last year’s winner, Mike Riddle, can do it again this year.
