There are an handful of photographers in this industry who can inspire you like Ian Ruhter. I have had the pleasure to work with Ian over the years, and each time I’ve walked away from the job motivated to do something bigger and better. His “Enabled” project is a prime example of what I’m talking about. Here’s the story as told by Ian.

“I began this project just over three years ago. It was sparked by an encounter with a stranger, Amy Purdy, whose story proved some powerful that it propelled my life into a new direction. I knew I had to photograph her. I realized the nine athletes featured in this project haven’t let their physical disabilities or societal obstacles stand in their way. They refuse to let the world assign stereotypical limitations. As a result, they have accomplished feats that most people would consider impossible. These athletes are not disabled – they are exceptionally enabled. ”
