The Chill Big Mountain Series in New Zealand. Been one of my best skiing experiences yet. The works; stormy winds, snow and rain, nut cracker tow lifts, great people and awesome skiing areas.
Venue one at Craigieburn was kind of rained and winded out, but never the less the staff was able to put a expression session together to break the cabin fever and get the guys and girls skiing, prizes for everyone. yay!!!
Venue two at Mt Oympus was great. After Cragieburn we drove in convey form to Springfield for burgers and beers and then continuing the wild west road journey to Mt Oympus. If any road needs some avi control, this is it, better hope that it does not snow too much when you part your car at the upper car park, 😉 else maybe it would be a good idea to attach a beacon to it.
One blue bird day on the “Mini Alaska Ridge Line”, one line on the left and one line on the right and the comp was done. Got to love the Kiwi creativity on terrain usage! The comp was full of awesome skiers, smiles and super impressions. The lodge on the mountain was a real catch an not release lodge, like a big couch that does not let you go. Good food and sounds finished the event off for this year. For me a definite return next year.
First place Mens went to Niel and first place womens to Lorraine Huber. I finished 17th, happy with the great experience and packed with motivation for more skiing from show that the guys and girls put on.
