In an unprecedented manner, a variety of North American ski resorts appear to be trolling each other on Twitter via the #alternativetracks hashtag.
To be honest, we’re not entirely sure what’s happening… It’s quite strange and funny all at once. But from what we understand, these resorts—Aspen, Taos, Telluride and Sun Valley, for example—are just taking light-hearted jabs at each other. (They’re all Mountain Collective resorts… Hmm… Connection?) It’s all fun and games, folks, and we think you’ll get a kick out of it.
The situation appears to have started
with a jab from Telluride, pointed at Alta…
We have the best skiing in Utah. @altaskiarea #alternativetracks

@Telluride @AltaSkiArea lol…. Tride telling me I should go to alta where it snows.

@telluride, our snow has 0% water content. It's like skiing on air. #alternativetracks

Then, Aspen and Taos got involved—striking
up a little tussle of their own…
Hey @TaosSkiValley it's like someone accidentally left out the C in your name. ???????????? #tacosskivalley #alternativetracks @CollectivePass
— Aspen Snowmass (@AspenSnowmass) February 23, 2017
Hey, @AspenSnowmass, rumor has it #AspenExtreme was filmed in #Taos because we're that much more extreme #alternativetracks @CollectivePass pic.twitter.com/9SRXgh6JB6

@TaosSkiValley @CollectivePass If by "Extreme" you mean… #alternativetracks pic.twitter.com/qaNnDJ0CQN
— Aspen Snowmass (@AspenSnowmass) February 23, 2017
@AspenSnowmass @CollectivePass dump a bunch of snow on that and then ski/ride it. Pretty extreme! #alternativetracks
— Taos Ski Valley (@TaosSkiValley) February 23, 2017
SkiBig3 (Lake Louise, Sunshine Village and Mt. Norquay in Alberta) pounced in, too, going for The Bird’s throat…
We're unsure about the latest @Snowbird marketing campaign… but everyone's talking about it. #alternativetracks https://t.co/IcyFtMfmbU
— SkiBig3 (@SkiBig3) February 23, 2017
SkiBig3 didn’t stop there… The next target was Sun Valley…
Hey @sunvalley, what inspired you to introduce this compulsory uniform item for all your employees? We're intrigued… #alternativetracks pic.twitter.com/pZGmLrm9or

.@skibig3 We sense jealously. They’re extremely liberating. We’ll hook you up. #AlternativeTracks
— Sun Valley Resort (@sunvalley) February 24, 2017
.@sunvalley Admittedly envious that you did it first. Harking back to #pantywaist history? #alternativetracks https://t.co/UxcsfJiuha

.@skibig3 Hey, we really want to come up sometime but we hear you have a strange creature roaming the slopes. #AlternativeTracks pic.twitter.com/cgFFhmVIP2

Meanwhile, Taos was back at it
with a zinger at Telluride…
Hey @Telluride, we heard you hired the old prospector #GusChiggins as your new mascot. Good luck with that… #alternativetracks pic.twitter.com/3bkklWdQtm
— Taos Ski Valley (@TaosSkiValley) February 24, 2017
An inspired move by our executive team, we look forward to his charming ways. #GusChigginsForPrez #alternativetracks https://t.co/C9qNLsboay

Finally, Sun Valley and SkiBig3 appeared
to have worked it out via this pancake GIF…
