The origin of a good idea is hard to quantify. It usually comes from a crossroads between two previous points that have yet to be fully investigated. That’s what happened at Faction when the team created the Studio series. Updated for the 2024-25 season, this unisex series blends attributes from park and freeride skis to give you the ultimate balance of both worlds.
The Studio 2 is a stiffer ski when compared to similar models Faction has made in the past, such as the Prodigy line. This makes it more effective when you’re destroying the frontside and bashing through crud as the snow conditions become less-than-optimal. The ski is lightweight and turns on a dime, but can handle high speeds easily thanks to its poplar wood core and carbon stringers. The result is the ability to pop off any lip in sight while knowing you’ll have control as you speed away from the landing.
Speaking of landings, the Studio 2 incorporates a rubber and carbon stomp pad underfoot. This allows the ski to take hit after hit, supplying extra stability where you need it, without adding unnecessary weight.
One of our testers said the Studio 2 is “a confidence-inspiring twin tip that is ready to take on whatever the mountain can throw at you, from the park to the backside. This ski offers a very precise feel and allows the freedom to make any turn shape you wish.”
After scrutinizing reviews from our testers, we’d recommend the Faction Studio 2 for any ripper who strives to split time between the park and the rest of the hill. An incredibly well-rounded freestyle weapon, this ski will have you ready to spin, slide and lay hip, all in the same run.
