Ski season is unofficially here: Matchstick Productions’ “Return to Send’er” premieres in Crested Butte

This weekend, FREESKIER ventured down to Crested Butte for the world premiere of Matchstick Productions’ new film, Return to Send’er. With the film’s four star athletes in attendance–Mark Abma, Karl Fostvedt, Logan Pehota and Sam Kuch–Crested Butte’s Center for the Arts was bursting at the seams with groms, veteran ski bums and everyone in between looking to meet these legends and catch the newest flick.

As the sun set over Mt. Crested Butte and a pre-winter chill filled the air, a palpable energy coursed through the infamous ski town. Doors opened at 6 p.m. and movie-goers wasted no time piling into the venue by the dozens to snag a signature or two from the Send’ers themselves and the best seat in the house for extreme skiing viewing. Fans couldn’t contain their stoke as the 10-second countdown kicked off the start of the movie.

As the final scene of Return to Send’er faded off the screen and the lights went up, the entire theater was on their feet hootin’ and hollerin’ for the epic performances they just witnessed. Following the premiere, hyped-up fans and the stars of the film headed to Talk of the Town for a libatious celebration of a successful world premiere.
