I’ve been fortunate enough to do a ton of traveling lately and, through it all, I’ve relied on Dakine’s Ranger Duffle 60L. This bad boy is roomy, well-thought-out and durable enough for the grandest of adventures. Allow me to elaborate…

For starters, the bag’s 60-liter size is optimal for most trips I’ve embarked on—most recently a cat-skiing mission in Canada. It’s small enough to carry on a plane, while also providing ample space for a solid week-long jaunt. For reference, it’s comparable to a large backpacking bag that one would use on a multi-day camping trip, so it’s not huge, but certainly gets the job done. If you’re minimal like me, you can fit your ski gear and a few changes of clothes in there, no problem. This size, fortunately, has encouraged me to only pack what’s necessary—making travel easier than ever.

Function-wise, the bag’s just as rad. It’s built with 1200D polyester and 1260D ballistic nylon, which are both incredibly durable and water-resistant materials (akin to those used in many top-end raincoats). Additionally, a PU coating (read: mega-waterproof) holds up magnificently against Mother Nature. I watched super wet snow and rain dump down on this thing on a recent trip to British Columbia, and none of that moisture soaked through to my belongings.

A bunch of useful features round the bag out. Soft, wide straps are forgiving on long travel days and you can wear them backpack-style when you’re really on the move—like when I was recently sprinting through Denver International Airport to catch a flight. A zippered end pocket sports a few awesome, little sub-pockets to keep your smaller belongings organized and one is fleece-lined which comes in handy for sunglasses and other delicate items. Last but not least, the bag packs into itself via the aforementioned end pocket when you’re not using it. I enjoy laying out all of my stuff when I arrive at the hotel, etc., and being able to stow away the bag, as well, is simply fantastic.
