Aspen employees raise over $20,000 to Nepal relief

Aspen Snowmass and it’s employees are reaching out to the earthquake damaged country of Nepal. The company matched employee donations and distributed over $20,000 to charities on the ground in Nepal. A few Aspen Snowmass employees were trekking in Nepal at the time of the earthquake and are now helping distribute aid.

“Once again, we were impressed by the generosity of our employees. Many have connections to Nepal, and others can simply relate because this disaster affected mountain communities,” said ASC President/CEO Mike Kaplan.

Press Release:

Aspen Skiing Company (ASC) employees have donated $10,415 to three charities delivering on-the-ground relief in Nepal after recent earthquakes. Aspen Skiing Company matched those contributions, sending a total of $20,830 to The Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation, IsraAID and The Cloudbase Foundation. In all, 93 employees donated to the relief efforts.

“Once again, we were impressed by the generosity of our employees. Many have connections to Nepal, and others can simply relate because this disaster affected mountain communities,” said ASC President/CEO Mike Kaplan.

One of the charities has a very local connection: ASC employees Jenny and Charlie MacArthur happened to be trekking in Nepal at the time of the quake. They are now helping distribute aid through a whitewater paddling group called Paddle Nepal, with funds collected through The Cloudbase Foundation.
