For two years, the multi-national eclectic ski trio known as The Blondes have been grinding away on a project they had yet to tackle; their own feature film. The crew had been on missions for Atomic and skied with the legendary Matchstick Productions (MSP), but their own movie was a new challenge. With the help of CK9 Studios and The North Face, The Blondes looked to tell their own story. One of incredible determination, hustle and comradery through thick and thin.
Emily Childs, Tonje Kvivik and Janelle Yip created The Blondes several years ago after the three met by chance in Revelstoke, British Columbia. They each moved there to pursue the dream of skiing maximum powder while working for minimum wage. (It’s as poetic as a ski tale gets.) With a camera, some planks and insurmountable determination, they grew both their skiing and media skills, garnering a passionate following. And while the crew’s beginning is no secret, their stories have yet to be properly told. “How Did We Get Here” sheds light on their past journeys, both as individuals and as a unit. Professional skiing wasn’t handed to them on a silver platter, to say the least. Each of these women has worked extremely hard to get to where they are now. And the work isn’t over. But neither is the joy.
The great skiing and storytelling of the film are complimented by CK9 Studios and their incredible cinematography. This is yet another mark of excellence in their list of fantastic ski films.
