Press Release provided by Wasserman Media Group:
Top ski agent Michael Svenningsen has joined Wasserman Media Group as Executive Director of Action Sports & Olympics, further bolstering the agency’s already strong ski representation business. By joining Wasserman, Svenningsen combines his athlete roster with that of Vice President of Action Sports & Olympics Michael Spencer, forming the industry’s leading freeski practice. There are currently two freeskiing Olympic events, halfpipe skiing and slopestyle. Svenningsen comes to Wasserman from Sven Sports Management, which he owned and operated. Prior to Sven Sports Management, Svenningsen co-founded and served as an agent at Allegiance Sports Group. He brings notable freeskiers such as Joss Christensen, Aaron Blunck and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand into the fold along with Spencer’s roster, which includes Gus Kenworthy and Dara Howell among others. Svenningsen is currently based in New Jersey and will relocate to Wasserman’s Carlsbad, CA office, while Spencer is based in Utah.
“We have watched our general snow sports business experience fantastic growth over the past few years and are particularly excited to build up the ski aspect of our practice,” said Steve Astephen. “Coming off the Olympics with great successes from our clients, we are looking forward to the future with these two powerhouse agents together under one roof.”
With the collaboration of Svenningsen and Spencer, Wasserman is already looking towards the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics on the heels of recent client successes at the Sochi Games, as well as recent X Games and World Championship competitions. These successes include: three of a possible six medalists in the men’s and women’s slopestyle events in Sochi (Joss Christensen, gold, men’s slopestyle; Gus Kenworthy, silver, men’s slopestyle; Dara Howell, gold, women’s slopestyle); 2014 Olympic silver medalist in the super-G slalom, Andrew Weibrecht; 2013 ski jumping World Cup champion, Sarah Hendrickson; 2013 Winter X Games silver medalist Jossi Wells; 2011 Winter X Games and World Ski Championships gold medalist Alex Schlopy; and the youngest medalist in Winter X Games history and two-time superpipe gold medalist Torin Yater-Wallace.
