About Pure

When we are young, we chase and pursue our dreams without hesitation, with the pure curiosity of a child. Solely driven by the need to capture the pure feeling of living in the moment. And although our grown-up lives are sometimes burdened by responsibilities and the awareness of the complexity of life, we are still driven by the constant search for the special moments. Moments, in which we experience pure happiness, independence, fear and freedom – they keep pushing us to explore our limits. In Pure, the second ‘Shades of Winter’ movie by Austrian freeskier and filmmaker Sandra Lahnsteiner an all-female group of exceptional skiers take the viewers on a journey of unspoilt adventures. This fall, 52 minutes of pure bliss will boost your urge to get out into the mountains and feel alive.

Unique little moments that may seem ordinary to an outsider, but are truly magical when you experience them first hand and the fear that threatens to hold us back from excelling when taking on an unfamiliar landscape – just two of a whole range of emotions that this film evokes.

Shot on locations in Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, USA and Canada, this all-female movie features some of the best freeski athletes while living their dream of skiing extraordinary lines all over the world: Matilda Rapaport (swe), Evelina Nilsson (swe), Melissa Presslaber (aut), Nadia Samer (can), Janina Kuzma (nzl), Nat Segal (aus), Emma Dahlström (swe), Silvia Bertagna (ita), Camillia Berra (sui), Nadine Wallner (aut), Caja Schöpf (ger), the Nine Queens 2014 and Sandra Lahnsteiner (aut) herself.

Pure, presented by Peak Performance in association with Garmin, a Sandra Lahnsteiner film, is the follow-up movie of the successful Shades of Winter movie. Austrian Sandra Lahnsteiner again teamed up with DOP Mathias Bergmann and director, editor and cameraman Mario Feil. The goal of the young crew was ambitious: “Stepping it up in every aspect of making a ski movie: skiing, cinematography, story telling, post production, distribution and marketing!“ states producer and freeskier Sandra Lahnsteiner about her 4th movie she is leading on since 2009.

Following its festival release at the IF3 in Montreal, Canada, on September 20, the official world premiere will be held on October 9, 2014 in Munich, Germany. One day later the film comes as an exclusive 24-hour premiere on www.redbull.com/snow. During the winter months, Pure will be featured at film festivals and events around the world as well as in cinema tours like the Alp-Con Cinema Tour throughout Europe. On top of that, a highlight segment of Pure will be shown at the upcoming E.O.F.T. 14/15 as Shades of Winter is this year’s selected ski movie for the renowned outdoor film tour. The Peak Performance stores in Munich, Innsbruck, Zurich, Vienna, London, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki and Frankfurt offer the chance to meet the athletes – more details on www.peakperformance.com. The movie will also be available on iTunes later in October. Shades of Winter was founded by the Austrian freeskier Sandra Lahnsteiner. Her passion to work in the mountains with cameramen and photographers has been leading her way since her early days in professional freeskiing. In 2013, Sandra Lahnsteiner officially launched the Shades of Winter production and released the first Shades of Winter movie together with her team Mario Feil & Mathias Bergmann in fall. Pure is the second movie of the series, co-produced by Red Bull Media House in association with Beech Studios.
