About FREESKIER’s Skier of the Year

Before we’re too deep (pun intended) into the 2015-16 shred season, we must pause to reflect on the year gone by—to celebrate the achievements of skiing’s top athletes. Last season, the ski community witnessed a plethora of top-notch performances from athletes at competitions including X Games, Dew Tour, the B&E Invitational, at the multiple stops of the Freeride World Tour, etc. Also, on the film front, a number of athletes produced mind-boggling segments—as seen in MSP Films’ Fade to Winter, TGR’s Paradise Waits, Good Company’s short films, Superproof’s The Masquerade, Clayton Vila’s For Lack of Better…The list goes on and on.

In recognizing the best of the best, it’s time to carry on the annual tradition of casting your votes for Skier of the Year. This time around, we’re proud to be continuing the Riders’ Poll. We’ll be tapping the sport’s top athletes and requesting they submit nominations. The pros can nominate anyone/everyone of their choice; in the end, we’ll crown a male and a female Skier of the Year, as voted by their peers.

Never fear, we’re counting on you to weigh in, as well; collectively, your votes will determine the winners of the People’s Choice Award. The popular vote certainly speaks volumes about a given skier’s performance and overall standing in the greater skiing community. The Riders’ Poll winners, along with the People’s Choice victors will receive special mention in FREESKIER magazine, Volume 18.5.
