Candide Thovex and Quiksilver present “Few Words” this Saturday in Paris

We’ve all been wondering. And by “we” I mean 99% of freeskiers. “What exactly has Candide been up to the past few seasons?” On Saturday night, at the Grand Rex Theatre in Paris, France, a lucky group of skiing enthusiasts will be the first to know the answer.

Few Words — Official teaser

On Saturday, Candide Thovex and Quiksilver will unveil Few Words, a two-year film project, for the very first time. In those two years, Candide and his team have been globe trotting in search of deep snow, big lines and massive air. The film features action from these escapades, in addition to storytelling of Candide’s illustrious career. We predict this film will shed light on a quiet personality, one of skiing’s greatest legends.

We all watched Candide medal at the X Games, which he won three times in three different disciplines (2000, 2003, 2007). We all watched Candide take home the World Freeride champion title in 2010. We all watched Candide as he soared to new heights in a handful of skiing’s great films. There’s not much the man hasn’t accomplished. Yet, following severe injury to his knees and back, Candide has been lurking in the shadows, quietly plotting his comeback to the spotlight.

“With cameras in hand and 50 kg of material on their backs, [Candide and co.] launched an assault on the most remote snow sanctuaries to capture the incredible skiing of Revelstoke and Golden in Canada, the Aravis in France and throughout the Alps. The film shows the fascinating wild and beautiful scenery of this long expedition. After shooting thousands of hours of footage, [director] Matt Pain and Candide hid themselves away for four months in their studio lair at the Quiksilver HQ in St. Jean de Luz to edit the film,” notes Faction Skis, Candide’s ski sponsor, in a recent press release.

A man of “Few Words,” Candide has built his reputation on skis. Without a doubt, this flick will show the world that Candide remains one of the best skiers on the planet—and despite his increasing age, that he has has no intention of slowing down. I, for one, can’t wait to see what the film has in store.
