With three days of sunshine under our belts and clouds rolling in, the FREESKIER testing crew was hungry for fresh snow and face shots. Thankfully, Mother Nature was on our side this year, bringing in a big storm to cap the week-long ski testing event with a coating of new snow that blanketed the town of Aspen and Ajax Mountain. With the all-mountain and frontside-focused skis packed up and tested, our fourth day ripping around the mountain was spent on the big dogs—111-millimeter-plus big-mountain and powder-specific skis.
Rocking the fattest skis in the test, our crew bounced, slashed and slarved, finding pockets of fresh at nearly every turn. What a way to end the test. But before we’re done here, we need to extend one more big thanks to our sponsors and partners that made the biggest, baddest ski test in the industry come to life. Big ups to the Limelight Hotel, just steps away from the Silver Queen Gondola, for letting us shack up and melt away our troubles in the hot tub; to Aspen Snowmass, Aspen Ski Patrol and all the mountain employees for letting us romp around for a week straight; and to The Ski Monster for providing skiers an online store and brick-and-mortar ski shop experience that trumps the rest. Now, take a look into our final day on the hill and get ready for the Ski Test results to publish in FREESKIER’s annual Buyer’s Guide come fall.
