Powder snow blankets Aspen Mountain to kick off FREESKIER’s 17th annual Ski Test

When the FREESKIER crew pulled up to Aspen Snowmass yesterday for our 17th annual Ski Test, the snow was falling in clumps, dumping a clean sheet—18 inches in 48 hours—for our testers to pillage on next year’s powder skis. With the entire mountain refreshed, everything was in play, including a cat-track gap that photographer Matt Power hadn’t ever seen hit by a skier—today, it happened twice.

Beyond the morning’s air time achievements, our 30-plus ski testers found fresh tracks on nearly every run, enjoying ideal conditions to rank and review the widest skis on the market. Keep scrolling to take a glimpse into the first day of this year’s #FREESKIERFEST and stay tuned for plenty more coverage to come this week.
