Ski town housing markets on the rise 

The Wall Street Journal reported last week on the trend of ski resort expansions and the correlating rise in ski town housing markets. Aspen, Jackson Hole and Telluride are expected to see property values increase by 125%, 138% and 143%, respectively, in the next five years, according to ATTOM Data Solutions.

Strictly crew drops trailer to final film project 

While it might be their last go as a team, ‘Delete’ promises the same energy as any of their past films. That includes the outrageous party of a premiere going down Friday, October 21 at the Boulder theater in, you guessed it, Boulder, Colorado, (home of the notorious Broadway and 27th rail featured in the film. It’ll blow your mind). It’s a premiere unlike many others, and will easily be one of the best times you’ll have all winter. U.S. News names the 22 best ski resorts in the United States in 2022/23

There are many different factors that constitute the “best” ski resort and those factors are different for every person. U.S. News organized this list based on region, and style of ski experience you’re specifically looking for. From Mount Bachelor and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in the West, to Killington Ski Resort in the Northeast and even Boyne Mountain Resort in the Midwest, there’s a ski resort in every corner of the country worth visiting. 

National Ski Patrol names new Executive Director 

The National Ski Patrol Board of Directors named its new Executive Director, Stephanie Cox, this month. Cox is the fourth ED of the organization in five years, after multiple turnovers and the last ED resigning because of irreconcilable differences with the board. Previous to her new position, Cox served as Executive Director of World Child Cancer, a global health organization dedicated to providing the necessary resources for children with cancer.

Sun Peaks Joins Ikon Pass 

Joining more than 50 ski destinations worldwide, Canada’s second-largest ski resort is joining the Ikon Pass for the 2022-23 season. Along with Sun Peaks, Andorra’s Grandvalira Resorts also joins the Ikon community, which spans 11 countries across the Americas, Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Rossignol Group unveils its first recyclable ski, the Essential

In an effort to create a collaborative approach to collectively reduce the environmental impacts of the snow sports industry, the Rossignol Group has unveiled its first recyclable ski, the Essential, and the technical specificities that make it recyclable, to all industry peers and competitors. With the hopes of other brands hopping on the bandwagon, the Rossignol Group is taking real action to save the planet.

Cody Townsend drops second episode of new season of The FIFTY: 7 Steps to Paradise, British Columbia

Most big-mountain ski lines have a crux, the biggest obstacle to completing said line. Most often, the crux is a physical element within the mountains, like an ice climb or navigation challenge. For Townsend and wife/professional skier Elyse Saugstad, their biggest crux to skiing together these days is their new son. For this mission, Townsend and Saugstad hail a babysitter so the two, along with Greg Hill and Zoya Lynch, can attempt to summit British Columbia’s 7 Steps to Paradise.

2023 Freeride World Tour Roster Announced

The world’s best freeriders are gearing up for the 2023 season and the Freeride World Tour (FWT) just dropped the official ski men and ski women roster. World Champion Jess Hotter is back to defend her title and there are rumors that three-time runner up, Hedvig Wessel may return as a wildcard. On the men’s side, World Champion Maxime Chabloz will have to battle it out with a stacked field, including 15-time veteran Reine Barkered.
