For some daredevils, skiing down a 55-degree slope with variable snow conditions around cavernous crevasses isn’t enough of a thrill. Following in the footsteps of Shane McConkey, today’s speed flying skiers fulfill their wildest dreams by strapping a pair of skis on their feet and a parachute on their backs before pointing straight down the fall line. Once the ‘chute fills with air, these adventure seekers lift off from the ground and miraculously begin soaring through the air.

Influenced by B.A.S.E. jumpers and paragliders, these specialized athletes combine technical parachuting skills with expert skiing to access new terrain and experience a completely new kind of thrill. Take a look below at some of the most eye-popping speed flying clips the internet has to offer and be inspired to go fast, catch air and push your limits this coming winter season.
