Last week, we saw the North American competition season kick off as David Wise and Janina Kuzma both spun to victory in the superpipe at the US Grand Prix in Copper. This week, the Dew Tour rolled into Breckenridge, and we’ve already seen one Maddie Bowman defend her title in Thursday’s women’s superpipe finals, with men and women’s slope, as well as men’s superpipe finals still on tap. So, with the competition season fully underway, and athletes scrapping to better position themselves in the rankings for the rest of the year, we’ve decided to loosen it up a bit.

Last night, we called upon pro skiers, industry veterans, Breck locals and more to come boogie with us at Cecilia’s Nightclub on Main Street, and boy did they ever. Beginning at 8 o’clock, a line of eager partygoers began to form outside of Cecilia’s. Once inside, guests were treated to the DJ’ing skills of Raw Russ (my eardrums picked up on at least one go-around of Savage’s Swing), as well as a steady stream of beer, booze and bubbly. A VIP section was roped off, where more than one sparkling bottle of Grey Goose was transported, and the ski industry’s finest were able to catch up a bit amid the hustle and bustle of the soiree.

A host of Dew Tour athletes joined in on the fun. Appearances were made by the aforementioned Dew Queen (and Olympic gold medalist) Maddie Bowman, as well as second place pipe finisher Annalisa Drew. Slope competitors, including Olympic gold medalist Joss Christensen, Olympian Henrik Harlaut, Noah Wallace, Matt Walker and Olympian PK Hunder enjoyed a bit of nightlife with an off day looming for a few ahead of Sunday’s final. As always, members of the Canadian halfpipe team partied hard, including Olympians Matt Margetts and Justin Dorey, who were both throwing down in the pipe on Friday. Ski movie stars like Sean Jordan, Cam Riley, Tanner Rainville, Khai Krepela, Sandy Boville and Will Berman took some time out of the filming season to catch up with us, too. And if the music and good friends weren’t enough, Level 1’s less was projecting on the walls for all to see.

Didn’t get the chance to throw a few back with us? Still eager to rub shoulders with pros, industry icons as well as the FREESKIER crew? Never fear, we’re taking FREESKIER FEST on tour this year. Lookout for more parties surrounding the Winter X Games and SIA Snow Show in January, as well as two spring bashes that will close out the season in style.

We’d like to extend a big thank you to Cecilia’s Nightclub for hosting us, to the VIPs, athletes and everyone who came out to celebrate, and to our partner, Swedish Match.
